1. SECURE SHEATHING
After your existing roo f shingles are removed your entire roof sheathing will be re-nailed using specific fastenroof ers and pattern to meet the FORTIFIED requirements. This requirement is essential to meet the FORTIFIED standard and to give your roof the foundation it needs to withstand the coastal weather.

2. SEAL ROOF DECK
Sealing the sheathing helps minimize water intrusion through the roof deck when the primary roof cover is damaged by high winds and hurricanes. This step is essential to help protect against wind driven rain. “A sealed roof deck can reduce water entry by as much as 95%” - Anne Cope, Chief Engineer IBHS

3. DRIP EDGE
After the roof deck is sealed wide flange drip edge is installed per Fortified requirements to strengthen the roofs perimeter. Drip edge 's purpose is to help redirect water from the fascia and into the gutters. Drip edge is installed along the rake, eaves and gable of your roof.

4. SELF-ADHERED STARTER/SYNTHENTIC UNDERLAYMENT
Starter Shingles are the first course of shingles that are installed and designed to work in tandem with the roof shingles above for optimal shingle sealing and performance. We use self-adhered starter which bonds directly to the drip edge and meets the fortified requirements. A synthetic underlayment is installed as a bond break between shingles and ice and water. This gives your roof another layer of added protection.

5. MAIN ROOF COVERING
The primary roof covering is installed to the manufactures installation requirements and is checked by the Fortified evaluator to determine if it meets the Fortified standard. All of our roofs are installed using a 6 nail pattern meeting local wind codes of 130 MPH
